Did you know that there are approximately 200 million blogs online at this moment? And, if that isn’t impressive enough, research shows that nearly half of those blogs will no longer be active next year.
And with so many options out there, how do you make yours stand out? The answer is simple: Create content your audience wants to read and return to again and again.
You see, the world is full of people creating blog posts. If you want to set yourself apart from the pack and establish your blog as a go-to source for information on a given topic you need to start thinking about monetization from day one.
So here’s a post with actionable steps you can take now on “How to Write Blog Posts that Make Money”…
1. Create Content That Educates and Helps
When you’re first getting started with your blog, the idea of monetization can seem pretty far off. But if you want your blog to generate revenue with ads or affiliate links, you need to create content that educates your audience.
This can be anything from tips and tricks to DIY projects or in-depth guides. When you create content that educates, you create a relationship with your audience. This is key because when you create a relationship with your audience, you’re setting yourself up for profit.
Why? Because your audience will start to trust you and rely on your expertise when making purchase decisions. When that happens, you can easily transition from building a relationship to making money.
When you create content that educates, you can easily transition it into blog posts that make money.
2. Write Blog Posts with a Call to Action
You should always include a call to action when you write blog posts. This is the point at which you ask your readers to take a specific action.
A call to action can be as simple as including a button, text, or an image with text that tells your readers to sign up for your email list, purchase a product, or click the affiliate link.
3. Centralize your Affiliate Links
A strategy I use is to add links from my helpful posts to my review posts so that I’ve warmed up the reader with valuable content and then led them to the post with the affiliate call to action. By this stage, they’re well-educated and ready to hit the button!
This is also important to Google which doesn’t like to see too many affiliate links all over your blog. So, to keep Google happy, you can centralize your affiliate offers in only certain posts, for example in your Reviews posts.
For example, this button below links through to my Wealthy Affiliate Review (where I studied Affiliate Marketing):

The Power of your Resources Page
Also, make sure you add affiliate buttons or text links to your Resources Page. This can be a secret little money generator! Since you’re recommending these resources, it’s a no-brainer to link your visitors to these recommendations, with your affiliate links.
The Power is in the List!
Now don’t ignore your e-mail list. When you write blog posts with a call to action to your e-mail list, you have the chance to turn one-time readers into repeat visitors and customers. It’s a Win-Win!
4. Don’t Forget Video Content
Just because you’re writing blog posts doesn’t mean you should ignore video content. In fact, video can be one of the best ways to create content that educates your readers and includes a call to action.
You can post the video to YouTube and then share it on your blog post. Turning your blog post into a video is an easy way to utilize content you already have, without having to write anything new.
Canva is a free and easy place to create and edit your own videos. They offer training videos on how to do this…
How to Create Videos with Canva:
Create Evergreen Videos
While you can use video to create a series of blog posts, you can also create video content that lasts longer than a single blog post. This is called an evergreen video.
An evergreen video is designed to continue bringing in traffic long after you publish it. An evergreen video can be as simple as a case study, ”how to”, interview an expert or a detailed review. So long as the information isn’t time-sensitive.
When you make and publish an evergreen video, you have the opportunity to add it to your other social media accounts. This will help ensure that it stays in front of your audience long after your initial post has been shared.
Add Videos to your Content
You can also add a video from YouTube that someone else has created. See how I’ve added the Canva video above that’s relevant to the subject of this blog post.
Google loves it when you add videos to your posts. I’ve found that Google sometimes adds the video to my listing in Google Search, which looks more enticing to readers.
5. Plan Out Your Content Calendar
Before you start writing blog posts, it’s a good idea to plan out your content calendar. What does this mean? Well, before you sit down to write your first post, you should have an idea of what your next few posts will be about.
When you plan out your content calendar, give yourself a deadline for publishing posts. This helps you stay focused and keeps your posts coming at a consistent pace.
Plus, when you have a content calendar and know what you’re planning to publish in the near future, you can go back and add a call to action in posts you’ve already published and link to the newer posts. This ensures that your posts aren’t forgotten and keeps your content consistent.
6. Write Guest Posts to Grow Your Audience
Guest posting is a great way to expand your audience and profit from the content you create. This can be an effective way to reach a new audience, so long as you’re careful and strategic about who you partner with.
While you can approach various websites and ask to write a guest post for them, you can also contact bloggers who already write for these sites.
When you contact them and offer to write a guest post for their site, you can expand your reach and increase your readership while earning a backlink to your website.
Guest posting is a win-win situation. For you and the blogger who’s publishing your post, it’s a great way to build relationships with new and interesting people. Plus, it’s a great way to build links to their site and your site.
